The wedding guide below offers some helpful and important tips for your special day. Please read and understand them.
Church Booking. To reserve one of our churches obtain a Booking form from any of our churches our schools or the parish office and return it to the Parish Office 70 Platt St Waratah. Then confirm by phone 4960 8010.
Marriage Papers. Contact the priest who is the celebrant of your wedding and ensure that the appropriate papers are completed. The Notice of Intended Marriage must be filled in no earlier than eighteen months before the marriage and not less than one calendar month before the wedding.
Papers. To fill in your marriage papers both parties need their Birth Certificates. Catholics need a recent copy of their Baptismal Certificates. If you are not a Catholic please bring your Church’s Certificate for citing.
Marriage Preparation. A regional program is available through Centacare. You are strongly encouraged to attend. The course is run by trained people and feedback on its effectiveness has been very good. Further information can be obtained by phoning: Centacare on (02) 4979 1330.
Music. Our Churches have organists and instrumentalists who are available to play. They have their fees. In your choice of music, please remember that your wedding is a religious ceremony. It is a prayer. The music and songs are part of that prayer. Not all music is appropriate. Music does not have to be drab but it must be appropriate, prayerful music. Our musicians are happy to help you select the music.
Cost. The Catholic custom is to offer a donation at the time of the wedding. This helps to support the clergy in our diocese. Many people ask what sort of donation they should offer? In our diocese people generally donate about $200.00 for the clergy. Anything above this helps cover the costs of running our churches. Your personal generosity is appreciated.
PLEASE REMEMBER: THE APPLICATION FOR THE BOOKING OF THE CHURCH IS NOT YOUR NOTICE OF INTENDED MARRIAGE. OTHER DOCUMENTS MUST BE FILLED IN PRIOR TO THE MARRIAGE. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THEY ARE COMPLETED IN TIME.
